Augmented Reality
Welcome
What if classroom walls could actually talk? What if learning could literally come off the textbook page? What if situated experiences could be overlaid with instructional content?
To fully experience the interactivity of this module, learners are invited to browse on a screen with a mobile device handy! The apps Blippar and Aurasma are used throughout.
This site, designed to be used by teachers and instructors in varied educational contexts, will help learners achieve the following objectives, to:
-
Become familiar with augmented reality and how to use it
-
Evaluate current AR apps and add to the list of resources
-
Understand advantages and challenges of using AR
-
Consider how to use AR in your own context
Explore what mobile augmented reality (AR) is and how it can be leveraged in education to support teaching and learning. As mobile devices proliferate, more and more people have access to mobile computing, which presents possibilities for layering information over the world. Layering 3D objects, text, audio, and video over the reality perceived by the user makes augmented reality a powerful tool for teaching and learning. While has been around for some time, the proliferation of mobile devices means that AR has gone mobile!

Augmented Reality in Education
In this education section, we will focus primarily on the practical ways AR can be applied in the classroom. Subject areas that AR has been applied the most include science, humanities, and the arts. and then they can go to separate sections
Teacher Created
When teachers create mobile augmented reality for learning students go beyond physical bounds of the classroom.
Post Secondary
In post-secondary settings, mobile augmented reality supports learners in mastering difficult topics.
Next Steps
Now it's your turn! Let's have some AR fun!
